Applications for our 2021 cohort are open and lasts until April 30th. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

The top 15 applicants will be selected for a 2-week probation period.

Each cohort lasts for 3 months and the 2021 cohort will take place from June through September.
What does it mean to be a Kimoyo Fellow?

Full-time commitment for 3

This program cannot be completed part-time, it is a Bootcamp meant to be done without any distractions.

Fellows are expected to independently complete tasks and assignments. (With the support of other fellows and mentors of course!).

Repay training costs
Repay training costs either by working on Kimoyo approved freelance projects or income from a full-time role secured after the program.
If selected, you will receive the following throughout the program:
A daily comprehensive design curriculum.
Weekly personal mentorship from top design leaders across Nigeria & the US.
A monthly stipend to cover food & personal upkeep.
Data subscription allowance.
Access to design tools & programs (such as Figma).
Who is eligible to apply
You are eligible to apply if you are fit within any of the following categories:
You are an aspiring graphic, visual or product designer.
You’ve done conceptual design work/exercises but have zero to limited real-world experience.
You’re looking to up-level your beginner skills.
You have a basic understanding of Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
You have a portfolio or link to some examples of your current work.
You can spend 3 months full-time learning and applying design principles.
You are based in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, or Rwanda.
You’re ready to become a full-time Product Designer…like yesterday.
Some frequently asked questions.
Where is the Kimoyo Fellowship cohort happening?
The fellowship is entirely remote. We only ask that you are based in either of these countries Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, or Rwanda. We will be expanded to other countries in due time!
Can I apply if I’m currently serving in NYSC?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept people currently serving in NYSC. Please apply after your service is completed.
Will Kimoyo get me a job?
While we are not a job placement program, we set up our fellows to be in the best position to get a job. Including a portion of our curriculum dedicated to building a portfolio and how to ace design interviews. So far, 60% of our initial cohort have been able to get a job in design.
When is the next cohort?
The next cohort will start in June of 2021.
How much is the expected stipend?
This year’s monthly stipend is under review due to rapidly changing exchange rates. We will update this answer once we finalize.
Is there a repayment plan?
We give fellows 1 year from the end of the program to repay.
